No Mas Tacos-Over 200 State Troopers Must Lose Weight By The End of The Year
Over 200 state troopers must lose weight by the end of the year or face consequences under a policy by the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Dallas Morning News reported Monday.
Men whose waists exceed 40 inches and women whose exceed 35 inches must log and share their weight loss journey, according to documents obtained by the newspaper.
“I will drink no more than one diet soda each day,” a DPS officer reportedly said in a fitness improvement plan. Meanwhile, those who fail to lose the weight, even while passing other fitness tests, may be denied promotions and overtime, or be taken off their duties.

In the latest round of testing, most officers who failed the waist measurement passed the department’s running, rowing and weight lifting tests – suggesting that state troopers with proven strength and stamina may be discounted simply for their size.
The possibility of taking officers out of the field comes as the department is struggling with recruitment and ramping up activity at the state’s border with Mexico under Gov. Greg Abbott’s Operation Lone Star.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott is plotting a White House run – and his new policy of bussing illegal immigrants to DC is part of his plan to woo GOP voters, analysts believe.
Gov. Abbott was praised by fellow Republicans after he sent two buses full of Latin American asylum applicants to the U.S. Capitol last week.
He has vowed to continue to do so as border states brace for a huge influx of migrants from next month when President Biden brings a Trump-era law that guaranteed immediate expulsion to an end.
Party insiders allege Abbott’s ‘audacious’ response to the border crisis is a first step towards a presidential bid, which they allege has been well received by an ‘already amped-up base’.
‘Like so many Republicans, Gov. Abbott is increasing his name ID and pushing on issues important to the base and thereby putting himself in a position to run,’ GOP strategist Doug Heye told the newspaper.
‘Hopefully this gets liberal elites and the Biden administration to actually care about the millions of illegal aliens who are streaming across our southern border,’ Sen. Ted Cruz said on Wednesday, The Hill reported.
‘They’re going to see, with all these people invading Washington, D.C., like they’ve invaded our border states, and it may make them realize how bad it is,’ Rep. James Comer told Fox News on Thursday.

A parent dressed as the Easter Bunny handed out condoms to elementary-school children Friday in Austin, Texas.
In a letter to parents Thursday, Gullett Elementary School Principal Tammy Thompson insisted that the school played no role in the event.
“This afternoon during dismissal, a Gullett parent visited campus dressed as the Easter Bunny and handed out plastic eggs. Some of those eggs contained candy, and some students were also given unopened condoms,” Thompson wrote in the missive obtained by Fox7 Austin.
“Please know that this was not a planned event, nor sanctioned by the school, and we have spoken with the parent about the inappropriate nature of their activity. We value parent participation and always request that you work with campus staff to best support our students,” the letter.
